Data Center
The Symphony SMS Data Centers are designed to provide flexible services to ensure the non-stop operations of production environments while providing the necessary physical security to protect our customer’s assets and intellectual property. The data centers have the following characteristics:
Locking cabinets or cage space dedicated to each customer
N+1 redundancy in power and HVAC delivery
Early warning VESDA smoke and particulate detection
Dual fire-suppression systems
Power, HVAC, security, fire, moisture and leak detection monitoring systems
Centralized monitoring of all data center security and environmental systems
Palm scanner readers to access customer hosting space
Card access control at all interior doors
Digital surveillance cameras with 30-day storage.
Network
Each data center provides high availability network services. The data centers have multiple Internet providers bringing in their links via diverse telecommunications carriers and diverse entry paths into the data center. Symphony SMS aggregates Internet bandwidth via redundant Cisco core routers, and delivers high quality bandwidth to our hosted customers via redundant Cisco Catalyst switches. Each customer front-end network is segmented via VLAN to segregate each customer, and have basic access lists and packet filtering.
Firewall
For increased network security, Symphony SMS offers high availability firewall services configured in active/passive to provide maximum protection and firewall uptime. The proposed firewall for Symphony SMS has capabilities of handling up to 75 Mbps of throughput and 2,000 concurrent sessions.

Web Server Layer
Symphony SMS provides dual web servers load balanced via a high availability web load balancer. The load balancer will detect the state of the web server and if a server is unavailable it will immediately redirect a web session to an alternate web server.
Application Server Layer
Symphony SMS provides multiple servers configured in an Oracle or SQL Cluster. The cluster manager will maintain a heartbeat with both servers and perform load balancing. If the cluster manager were to become unavailable, the alternate server would be promoted to cluster manager and continue operations.
Database Server Layer
The Oracle & SQL database servers are configured in a cluster, leveraging an external direct-attached disk array and Veritas Cluster software to provide a high availability active/passive environment. The database servers will share a common disk, and all database activity will be handled by the primary database server. In the event the primary database server was to fail, the passive server would be promoted to active to continue database operations. The cluster software enables a virtual database server name that will direct database calls to the active server.
